Notice: New Harmony Residents June 2, 2026
We have installed a new accounting and utility bill paying system at Town Hall. Residents may pay by credit card and online. Of course, you can continue to visit us at Town Hall and pay by check or cash. You are now able to go online to bsaonline.com, set up an account, and see everything about your account. We will be happy to assist you in setting up an account.
This new ability to pay by credit card and online is a great advantage to residents that don’t live here full time, those out of town for periods of time and those that need to pay by credit card. Any time you utilize a system like this, there will be process and credit card fees. These fees do not come back to New Harmony. Most banks can make payments for you too - at no fee. Now residents have many different options to make utility payments that best meet their needs.
The fees are:
Credit Cards 2.95% plus $.50
ACH $3.00 from 0-$1,000, $6.00 from $1,001-5,000, and $12.00 $5,000 and up
Gas charges: You’ve noticed that the gas amount is labeled as Gas and Gas Surcharge. This was not broken out in our old system. You saw one amount that equaled the following:
Gas: Basic Rate of Gas
Gas Surcharge: The amount of the gas price can fluctuate depending on what we pay. Can change on a quarterly basis based on an evaluation by an outside company.
Trash Cans: We have new trash cans. They changed because they operate better with the new garbage truck dimensions. The cans are the same size. These are taller and not as wide vs wider and not as tall. If you have an old trash can and want a new one, call town hall (812) 682-4846. If you want a second can call town hall, we will request one for you from Waste Management and you will be charged on your utility bill. Each trash can is $12.75 a month. We are with the same garbage company (Waste Management) we’ve had for years. After an in-depth review, we still found them a lot less expensive than other competitors.
If you have any questions about procedures, costs, reasoning for decisions, etc. at Town Hall, we are more than happy to answer them directly.
