In an emergency, every second matters. Fire fighters need quick access to hydrants to protect lives and property. Please help by keeping snow and ice at least 3 feet away from fire hydrants. A few minutes of clearing can make a life-saving difference.

❄️ WINTER STORM SAFETY MESSAGE ❄️

A major winter storm is impacting large parts of the U.S. The National Association of State Fire Marshals (NASFM) urges everyone to take steps now to stay safe.

🔥 Keep space heaters at least 3 feet from anything that can burn
⚠️ Never use ovens, grills, or generators to heat your home
🚨 Make sure smoke alarms and CO alarms are working
🕯️ Avoid candles—use flashlights when possible
🔌 Prepare for power outages with flashlights, batteries, and warm clothing
🚗 Avoid travel unless absolutely necessary

Cold weather increases the risk of fires and carbon monoxide poisoning. Preparation and safe choices save lives.

Travel advisory in effect for Posey County. The snow is starting to stick to the roads and driving conditions are going to decline quickly. If you must be out driving, use caution, take extra time to get where your going, make sure you have a full tank of gas as well as supplies you may need in the event of a slide off.
