The National Weather Service has issued a 💨 High Wind Warning 💨 for most of Iowa, including New Hampton. Southwest winds expected: 25-40 mph with gusts of 60 mph are expected from 3pm Wednesday to 3am Thursday.

⚠️These high winds can blow down trees and power lines. As a reminder if you come across a downed power line:

1) Assume the line is energized and stay as far away as you can
2) Call 911
3) Do not drive over downed power lines.
4) Stay in your car.
5) If you must evacuate, jump away, land with both feet together and shuffle away to safety.

🌳 People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm and avoid windows. Use caution if you must drive.

Notice: The City of New Hampton will begin flushing hydrants, weather permitting, on Monday, November 8th, 2021. They will begin in the South part of the city and will continue to the West, North and East of the city until all the hydrants are flushed. Please check your water for discoloration before washing clothes.
