đźš« Reminder for Downtown Main Street Sidewalk Safety đźš«

The City of New Hampton would like to remind residents that bicycles, scooters, and similar motorized or non-motorized devices are not permitted to be operated on Main Street sidewalks in the downtown business district.

We have recently received concerns regarding pedestrians nearly being struck by scooters traveling at high speeds on the sidewalks. With customers, families, and visitors entering and exiting businesses throughout the day, sidewalk safety is extremely important.

For everyone’s safety:
• Please walk bikes and scooters when on Main Street sidewalks
• Use caution and be respectful of pedestrians
• Parents are encouraged to discuss safe riding practices with their children

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in helping keep Downtown New Hampton safe and welcoming for all residents and visitors.

Please DO NOT blow grass clippings into our streets.

When mowing, keep clippings out of the roadway. If any does get into the street, please take a moment to blow it back into your yard.

Why this matters:
• Grass clippings can clog storm drains and drainage lines
• They create a safety hazard for motorcycles and bicycles
• They make our streets look messy

We want to keep New Hampton clean and safe for everyone. Please note that continued violations may result in a citation.
