New Gloucester Parks and Recreation Department - Maine

The Town of New Gloucester is holding a Special Town Meeting on Monday - October 27th. This meeting is for Town voters to consider approval of the Planson International donation and the authority to enter into a lease for the Pineland Athletic Building. Once the Select Board signs the Special Town Meeting Warrant, it will be posted here.

Hello GNG!

Please take a few moments to learn more about this proposed project that would convert an old rail bed into a walking/biking trail that ran 26.5 miles from Portland to the New Gloucester/Auburn line.

What has happened so far:

The state has formed a legislative committee (Rail Use Advisory Council) to investigate the options for the rail bed, they will make a final recommendation to the MDOT Transportation Commissioner for consideration.

The potential options are as follows:
1. Leave as it is, continue to perform maintenance and inspections without the thought of using in the near future.
2. Rail WITH Trail- Construct a trail next to the rail line.
3. Trail UNTIL Rail- Remove the ties and use as a trail until a future point where rail is being considered again.

Vaccine clinic at Gray Town Hall today!

Community Pharmacies and The Opportunity Alliance will be putting on a vaccine clinic today. NOTE the location will now be upstairs at Town Hall. There is an elevator should anyone need it. A great walk in opportunity if you're seeking the Covid 19 vaccine or flu shot. They'll be here 1:00-4:00PM today only!
