🚨🔥 CARBON MONOXIDE DANGERS 🔥🚨

Please use extra caution during and after snowfall when using any fuel-burning equipment. Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless gas that can be deadly.

Do not run vehicles inside a garage or enclosed area, even for a short time. Make sure snow is cleared away from vehicle exhaust pipes, as well as outside furnace and dryer vents.

Never run gas-powered generators, grills, or other fuel-burning equipment inside a home, garage, basement, or near windows, doors, or attached structures.

If your carbon monoxide alarm sounds, get everyone outside immediately and call 911.

Stay safe, and please check on neighbors, especially seniors and anyone living alone.

Residents of Plumsted
Recently, the board of fire commissioners and the fire company received a new apparatus to assist us in our firefighting endeavors. In 2022, the officers, firefighters, and a board member formed a committee to purchase a replacement piece of fire apparatus. It was discussed and decided that the best unit would be a truck capable of first response to a fire with enough water to continue efforts until additional resources could assist. This truck, a Pumper Tanker, was decided upon and designed.
The board has a line item in the budget for such purchases and has been saving to make the recent purchase. There was no financing needed, and our town now owns the truck, paid in full. We are currently equipping the truck and mounting all necessary tools, radios, and hoses to perform our firefighting duty. The town's new truck is currently housed at the squad headquarters, where our engineer is installing the electrical components, such as radios and lights, and mounting components. The plan is to commission this new Pumper Tanker (3918) during the first week of November. Our plan is to sell the old truck and add the funds to our capital line item.
Our pumper (3911) will remain a part of our fleet as a second response on large events, mutual aid, forestry cover assignment etc.. this truck is a 1998 designed pumper seeing almost 28 years of service.
Our ladder truck (3915) was commissioned in 2001.
The rescue (3902) is a 2005.
Our brush truck (3909) is a 2014.
Please come down and visit our station this weekend at the town's Plum Fest on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. We will answer all questions. We would be happy to give you a tour.
Respectfully
Robert R. Brady

Tonight, our Volunteers (New Egypt Volunteer Fire Company No. 1) and on duty career staff (Plumsted Township FMBA #89 plumstedtwpfmba89) are doing training with PSEG on Gas Emergencies. With the increased number of Gas Emergencies in our area, we are getting training from our local provider.

As always, if you smell gas call 911. We will respond with PSE&G to mitigate the hazard.
