Healthy Base Initiative | , a healthy living program that started as a pilot program at DLA Headquarters, expands throughout the agency’s field activities

The Defense Department’s Healthy Base Initiative, which marked its one-year anniversary May 15, has made its mark across the Defense Logistics Agency by helping employees maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.

HBI is part of DoD’s “Operation Live Well” campaign and President Barack Obama’s National Prevention Strategy. The program aims to fight rising statistics on obesity and to***co use among military service members and civilian employees. Full story: http://ow.ly/zymNq

At precisely 7:48 a.m., on Dec. 7, 1941, the first of 353 Japanese warplanes–complete with fighters, bombers and torpedo bombers launched from six aircraft carriers–unleashed a sudden attack against American forces at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The attack ended with 2,402 Americans killed and 18 ships either sunk, damaged or run aground.
