It's that time of year! Spring has sprung and it's time for home maintenance!
1. Hire a professional to inspect your heating and cooling system at the beginning of each season. Prevents a costly repair later when the system might be working harder.
2. Don't forget to test your smoke alarms and change the batteries at least once a year.
3. Inspect garden hoses for any leaks. Potentional leaks can cause foundation and siding problems down the road.
4. Inspect the foundation for cracks and ensure the soil is properly graded away from the house.
5. Clean your gutters. Keep roof valleys, gutters and downspouts free from leaves, twigs and debris that can build up and prevent proper drainage.
6. Trim trees and branches away from roof and siding. Might not seem like a big deal now, but could save you from a larger issue during a storm.
7. Change your filters.

As spring nears, the potential for severe weather often increases. Fast‑developing storms—including strong thunderstorms, high winds, hail, tornadoes, and heavy rain—make advance preparation especially important.
Severe Spring Weather Preparation -
When severe spring weather is in the forecast, taking a few proactive steps can help reduce potential damage to homes and businesses:
* Clear debris from gutters and downspouts to help prevent water backup and flooding
* Secure or bring inside outdoor furniture, decorations, and equipment
* Close and lock windows and doors to help protect against high winds and flying debris
* Park vehicles in a garage or covered area and away from trees or flood-prone locations
* Review emergency plans and identify safe shelter areas, especially in the event of high winds or tornado warnings
