Welcome to New Creek Volunteer Fire Department's web page. Our department was organized on August 17th, 1961, in the heart of the New Creek Valley. The town of New Creek, is located just south of Keyser, WV. The New Creek VFD provides both fire and EMS protection for approximately 75 square miles. Our coverage area includes rural, suburban, and a largely growing commercial sector. New Creek's cove

rage area extends from (and including) Valley View Road off of Rt 220 south, to the Grant County line on Rt 93. To the East, the department responds to the top of the 3 lanes on Rt 50 towards Burlington. The the West, the department covers to the end of the first set of 3 lanes going up the mountain on Rt 50 towards Elk Garden and Mt. Other roads that have boundaries include all of Ho**er Hollow, Graysons Gap and Penneriol roads. New Creek also provides 2nd due fire coverage to all surrounding areas when requested. EMS coverage provides 2nd due services to the city of Keyser, much of Burlington, the town of Elk Garden, and some areas in Grant County along Rt 93. NCVFD is the busiest combination fire/ems department in Mineral County, and 2nd busiest of all agencies, Keyser EMS being the busiest. Until August of 2007, the department only ran a advanced life support rapid response unit. In August, the department added it's first ambulance, courtesy of the Mineral County Ambulance Authority. With the increase in demand for EMS services from New Creek, a second ambulance was placed in service in December of 2007. New Creek VFD is proud of all the accomplishments of our members. In todays world, sadly volunteering seems to be a dying trend. Not in New Creek though. Statistics (taken from the department's monthly NFIRS reports) show the accomplishments of the department. Our response time is what we are most proud of. From the time of dispatch until the first arriving fire or ems apparatus, the department averages between 6 and 10 minutes. This time is almost unheard of; in small rural all volunteer fire departments. As of today, our department houses 2 Engines, 1 70' Tower, 1 Tanker, 1 Brush unit, 2 ALS Ambulances, 1 ALS Chase unit, 1 Utility pickup unit, and 1 ATV unit.

Bounce house rental update.

At tonight’s meeting, our department voted to not rent out our bounce houses this year. This was not an easy decision to be made. We had to weigh out the factors of manpower issues, liability concerns, etc.

We apologize for any inconveniences.

Take a peak at the group pose…see a familiar face? Our very own Firefighter/EMT Chase Roberts is in Recruit Class 10. He joins one of several firefighters from our region, and one of 3 currently from our department to work for WFRD. Keep up the great work Chase!

At 20:17 hours on Friday, February 6, Residential Box 38-1 was dispatched for a reported garage fire on Pine Swamp Road. The initial report of a garage on fire was quickly confirmed by the Mineral County 911 Center, which is located across the street from the incident.

Chief 38 arrived on scene at 20:21, confirming one detached garage fully involved and established command. Crews encountered several hazards upon arrival, including downed power lines and an arcing transformer in front of the garage. Due to these hazards, crews were directed to access the scene from One Tornado Way.

Tower 38 arrived at 20:25, laying a supply line from the hydrant. Handlines were stretched and suppression efforts began; however, operations were briefly delayed while crews accounted for the energized power lines.

The fire was successfully contained to the garage. No damage or fire extension occurred to the primary residence, though minor heat damage was noted on nearby sheds.

No firefighter or civilian injuries were reported. Three residents were evaluated on scene by Ambulance 38-71 as a precaution.

The last remaining units cleared the scene at 22:26.

Units on scene included:
• New Creek VFD: Tower, Tanker, Utility 38, Ambulance 38-71
• Keyser VFD: Engines 33-12 and 33-15
• Potomac VFC: Engine/Tanker 23
• Fountain VFD: Engine/Rescue 392
• Burlington VFD: Tanker 44 (redirected to Station 38)

We appreciate the assistance of our mutual aid partners and thank the community for their support.
