Due to the FIFA World Cup being held at New York New Jersey Stadium (MetLife Stadium), increased traffic is expected in the surrounding areas. Motorists should plan ahead and allow extra travel time on game days.

On June 6, 1944, over 150,000 Allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy.

Code-named Operation Overlord, this monumental mission turned the tide of World War II and began the liberation of Western Europe.

We pause today to remember the immense courage, sacrifice, and resilience of the soldiers who fought for freedom.

An innovative idea developed by the County of Rockland to strengthen school bus safety has now become state law.

As part of the 2026 New York State Budget, municipalities are now authorized to establish a Traffic Camera Violations Bureau (TCVB) to handle school bus stop-arm camera violations. The legislation was developed from a concept by Rockland County after identifying challenges with processing violations through traditional court systems.

RC-TAM training brings professionals from across Rockland County into the same room to learn, collaborate, and strengthen the way we respond to concerning behavior before a crisis occurs. From schools and mental health to law enforcement and community services, every perspective plays a role in building a more informed and connected approach to safety.

Threat assessment is not the responsibility of one agency alone. It is a shared commitment to protecting our communities through awareness, communication, and early intervention.

🚒🎓 Since launching in 2023, Rockland County’s HERRO program has already reimbursed more than $771,000 in college tuition to 313 volunteer firefighters and EMS personnel, helping strengthen recruitment and retention for the volunteers who keep our communities safe across .

This program supports those who step up when it matters most, easing the cost of higher education while they serve on the front lines of emergency response.

Spring semester deadline is June 7 and summer semester deadline is September 13.
