On Saturday a great many families flocked to the pool openings at Germonds Park and Congers Memorial Lake. The weather was ideal for a swim. Plus at Germonds, there was music, kids entertainment including a magician, balloon making, and arts and crafts. Congers Lake featured a children’s pool, and fun water slides. All that and concession stands to purchase food and/or snacks.

Besides all the patrons enjoying the day, there was the staff of young enthusiastic lifeguards, and many Clarkstown town personnel to welcome the opening of the pools.

Looks like summer is here! 😎

Another beautiful day in the neighborhood yesterday. Congratulations to the New City Chamber of Commerce for coordinating another wonderful Street Fair down Main Street. There were plenty of vendors, music on the main stage, and people from all over.

I talked to many individuals who were so appreciative of the work the Town Board was doing, and the quality of life maintained, from which we all benefit. Others talked about issues and town initiatives, while with others, we were able to solve the world’s problems.

All in all, it’s all about community, and bringing people together. The New City Street Fair provided that in bunches.

This past Saturday night my wife and I attended the Rockland County Republican Party’s Lincoln Ball at the Pearl River Hilton. It was a tremendous turnout, with much camaraderie and enthusiasm.

Congratulations Frank Voce Jr. for being honored for the creation of “Reps for Responders”, and it’s incredible contribution to all first responders, and the mental health issues many endure through their sacrifices and service to society.

Thank you Lee Zeldin for attending and your inspiring presentation, and thank you Mike Lawler, Lauren Marie Wohl, and all who contributed to a wonderfully successful event.

Saturday morning, a street dedication was conducted in New City to recognize PFC Lawrence O. Rose, who was killed in action on June 10, 1968 in Vietnam, during a mortar barrage.

PFC Rose was a member of the 101St. Airborne and was highly decorated receiving the Purple Heart and Bronze Star before paying the ultimate price after just three months in Vietnam.

Thank you Councilman Jon Valentine for recommending this dedication after meeting with PFC Rose's brother last year, and along with Supervisor George Hoehmann, making it happen.

Brook Lane in New City, is now dedicated in memory to PFC LAWRENCE 0. ROSE.

On Friday I attended the official grand opening of the Congers Community Cafe on the grounds of Congers Lake Memorial Park, along with Supervisor George Hoehmann, Councilman Mike Graziano, Senator Bill Weber’s Chief of Staff, and Deputy Supervisor Al Moroni. The Cafe will be open seven days a week, and provide refreshments for purchase to patrons enjoying Clarkstown most beautiful park.

The Cafe operated by Rockland Community Services, while offering refreshments to patrons, also provides employment opportunities for individuals of all abilities.

Congratulations to all for this wonderful new establishment!!
