September 12 🚁🚗 @ New Castle Airport

▪️The New Castle Airport Fly-In and Car Show (hosted at the New Castle - Henry County Municipal Airport / Marlatt Field at 2912 E. County Road 400 S.) started years ago as a simple local airport open house.

▪️Origins: Founders John and Jeff Marlatt carrying on the aviation legacy of Clifford “Bill” Marlatt, who originally built the airport's grass runway in 1952—began the gathering as a casual fly-in to offer airplane rides and showcase local aviation.

▪️Growth & Evolution: Over the decades, the casual open house expanded into a prominent regional community tradition. Organizers added an integrated car, truck, and motorcycle show to attract land-travel enthusiasts alongside the pilots.

▪️Community Partnerships: Local groups like the New Castle-Henry County Kiwanis Club joined to host routine food drives (serving breakfast items, burgers, and brats) where all proceeds directly support children's charities and local organizations.

▪️Current Status: The annual gathering features static aircraft displays, emergency response vehicles, helicopter and airplane rides, and classic automobiles, drawing hundreds of spectators from across Henry County and neighboring communities.
