New Castle-Henry County EMS is the primary emergency (911) response ambulance service for the city of New Castle and majority of Henry County, Indiana. The service operates 24 hrs/day and 7 days/week from its main headquarters, located at 432 Broad St. We respond to a variety of calls including medical emergencies, traumatic injuries, motor vehicle accidents and inter-facility transfers. We are re
cognized and affiliated with the State of Indiana’s Mobile Integrated Health Program (MIH) as a functioning Community Paramedic Service. We are also recognized as a Critical Care transport service (SCT). We work alongside many other volunteer departments in the county who respond with us during medical calls for EMS mutual aid. These departments include the many volunteer fire and EMS agencies in the county as well as local and state law enforcement agencies. We also respond with area fire departments to assist them with fireground operations. Our crews work 4 rotating 24-hour shifts. Each shift is staffed with four(4) Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances, an ALS shift Captain and an ALS shift Lieutenant. We currently have 9 state certified ALS transport ambulances and 5 state certified ALS non-transport quick response vehicles (QRV). All employees are required to participate in monthly educational and in-service training’s to not only maintain both their state and national licensure / certifications, but also to show proficiency with providing a high level of patient care to those that may need our services.
