2023 New Castle Kids Fishing Derby was a huge success. A special thank you to the 20 some odd Volunteers that helped me put this on. I truly couldn't have done it without your help. Once again we had over 100 kids competing for about $5,000 in prizes this year. We live in an amazing giving and sharing community. I'd like to list all of the sponsors for this year's derby. Wheather, you won or didn't place, please support the following businesses and tell the owner or manager thank you for your support.
Once again, Glenwood Grease Monkey donated $400 in cash for the trophies.
$750 additional cash came from the Lakota and Castle Valley HOA in addition to the American Veteran's Post 164. They also started the event following the flag ceremony, pledge with a real gun volley and revelry on the trumpet. What a way to start the event!
6 year old Jesse Lafayette Jr. landed 14 fish in 60 minutes. He won a paraglide trip from Glenwood Adventure Paragliding, and a one-mile zipline or raft trip for 2 in Idaho Springs from Colorado Adventure Center, along with Glenwood Caverns Adventure pass and he gets to go to the Vaudeville Review. Thanks to Costco and Pepsi for providing 250 hot dogs, sodas and water. Plus, he and 27 other winners get a number of gift certificates from the following businesses:
From Glenwood: The Escape Room, Chile's and Arby's provided free kids meals to everyone, and Wendy's gave out free Frosty's to everyone, High Country Gems and Minerals, Domino's Pizza, Culver's, Glenwood Toys and Gifts, Charcoal Burger Drive-In, Dairy Queen, Jimmy John's, Hooker's Fly Shop, Roaring Fork Anglers, Iron Mountain Hot Springs, Taco Bell, and Factory Outdoors.
From down valley in New Castle, Silt, and Rifle we are thankful to those businesses that also contributed.
