📸As we celebrate 90 years of service, we're taking a moment to reflect on the people and stories that helped shape CBEC.

This photo captures a member reading Rural Electrification Magazine (Cooperative Living Magazine), a reminder of a time when cooperative publications were one of the primary ways members stayed informed about the rapidly changing world of rural electric service.

From bringing electricity to farms and homes in the 1930s to delivering reliable power and modern technology today, our mission has remained the same: serving our members and strengthening our communities.

For nine decades, we've been powered by the support of our members and guided by the cooperative principle of neighbors helping neighbors.

Here's to honoring our past while powering the future. ⚡💚

📸 As we celebrate 90 years of service, we're taking a look back at the communities that have shaped our cooperative's story.

This historic downtown scene captures a moment in time when Main Street was the heart of local commerce, neighbors knew one another by name, and electric service was helping communities grow and thrive. While the cars, storefronts, and streets may have changed over the decades, one thing has remained constant: our commitment to the people we serve.

For nine decades, CBEC has been proud to power homes, businesses, farms, and dreams across our region. From the early days of rural electrification to today's modern energy solutions, we've been honored to be part of your story.

As we reflect on where we've been, we're even more excited about where we're going—continuing to serve our members and communities for generations to come.

⚠️⛈️Last night’s storm left a heavy mark across Botetourt County, with downed trees, damaged property, blocked roads, and widespread power outages throughout the area. These photos are just a small glimpse of the destruction many families and crews are facing today.

We want to thank the first responders, utility crews, tree service teams, road crews, and neighbors who have been working around the clock to clear debris, restore power, and help keep our communities safe. There is still a lot of work ahead, and restoration efforts are ongoing across the county.

Please continue to use caution while traveling, avoid downed power lines, and give crews space to work safely. If you are still without power, know that teams are actively working to restore service as quickly as possible.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the storm, especially those dealing with damage to homes, vehicles, and property. 💚

⚠️OUTAGE UPDATE (6:25 PM | 5.28): Power has been restored to the Ball Park Rd. area. Crews are continuing restoration efforts in the 621/Miller Cove area and will continue to work as safely and quickly as possible to restore power to all members.

Current outages include:
🔴Botetourt: 2
🔴Craig: 74
🔴Roanoke: 3

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding.

⚠️OUTAGE UPDATE (12:33 PM | 5.28): Due to the condition of Ball Park Rd., our CBEC crews and contracted partners are continuing restoration efforts carefully and safely.

Crews are cutting trees and clearing hanging lines while moving down the road just one to two meters at a time, restoring power as they progress until all service is fully restored. Unfortunately, this is a very tedious and time-consuming process, but we appreciate your patience and understanding as our teams work as quickly and safely as possible.

We'll continue to share updates as they become available.

⚠️ OUTAGE UPDATE (9:00 AM)⚠️

Last night’s storm that moved through Botetourt County caused significant damage across several areas of our system. Crews are currently responding to multiple locations with trees down, broken poles, and downed power lines.

Current outages include:
🔴 Botetourt: 54

At this time, we have identified at least four broken poles, along with extensive tree damage impacting access to outage locations. First thing this morning, crews focused on cutting their way into some of the hardest-hit areas in order to safely begin repairs.

In addition to our CBEC crews, we currently have two additional contracted line crews and contracted tree trimming crews on site assisting with restoration efforts.

Our teams are working as quickly and safely as possible to restore power to all affected members. We appreciate your patience and understanding as restoration work continues throughout the day.

🚫 Please remember to stay far away from any downed power lines and report outages through SmartHub or by calling our office.

For outage updates and restoration progress, visit:
https://cbec.outagemap.coop/ 💚

⚠️ OUTAGE UPDATE (11:50 PM): We will not be able to restore power to members on Ball Park Rd tonight. Multiple spans of wire are down, and several poles have been compromised due to the large number of fallen trees in the area.

Crews will return in the morning to begin rebuilding the line and continue restoration efforts.

The main affected areas in Botetourt (75 members) that will remain without power until tomorrow are:
• Ball Park Rd
• Cabin Hallow

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as crews work safely to restore service.

⚠️ Members, our crews are working to restore power to those being affected by an outage as the result of the storm that just moved through our service area. Crews are responding to multiple locations with trees down and storm-related damage.

Current outages include:
🔴 Botetourt: 182

Crews are working to restore power to all affected members as quickly and as safely as possible. At this time, we do not have an estimated time of restoration (ETOR), but we will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available.
