Fire Prevention Week

Fire prevention isn’t just something we talk about during Fire Prevention Week—it’s something we should practice every day.

Take a few minutes this week to make sure your family knows:
• What to do when the smoke alarm sounds
• Two ways out of every room
• Where your family’s meeting place is
• How to call 911
• When to GET OUT and STAY OUT

Check your smoke alarms, replace those batteries, and make sure everyone in your home knows the plan.

As firefighters, one of the best parts of our job is helping prevent the emergency before we ever have to respond to it. A few minutes of preparation today could save a life tomorrow.

Just a friendly reminder, please DO NOT click on ANY links in the comments on any of our posts. If there is a link to go with whatever the topic is, it will be posted in the original post. The links in the comments are scams and spam posted by fake accounts.

Additionally, we do not sell any of our uniform shirts to the general public. Pages posting shirts claiming to be NCFD shirts for sale are scams.

The only trustworthy page selling anything that may resemble an official department shirt would be New Castle Firefighters Local 1722 when they do their fundraiser shirts.

Thank you!

At 00:18 this morning Engine 2 was dispatched to a report of a tree smoking after a lightning strike in the 2500 block of C Avenue. Upon arrival and quick investigation Engine 2 marked a working structure fire with smoke showing from a two story residence and requested Engines 1 and 3. At that time E2 crew forced entry and stretched a 1-3/4” attack line to the second floor to begin extinguishment and complete a primary search. Crews had water on the fire and a primary search completed within 6 minutes of the initial dispatch. Fire was marked under control at 00:31 and all units were in service at 01:09. No injuries were reported by civilian or fire service personnel.
