New Castle Area School District New Castle Area School District is an urban public school district located in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. The District encompasses three schools: Harry W.

The mission of the New Castle Area School District is to create a safe and respectful learning environment, fostered by collaborative community partnerships, where all students will develop necessary skills both academically and socially that will prepare future-ready life-long learners who will become productive citizens and resilient leaders in a global society. Lockley, a K-2 Early Learning center; George Washington, a grade 3-5 intermediate school; a junior high, grades 6-8; and a senior high school, grades 9-12.

It was an unforgettable Friday night at Taggart Stadium!

At Friday’s game, we honored the 25th anniversary of September 11 with 25 JROTC cadets presenting the American flag and remembering New Castle native Ludwig Picarro.

We also celebrated our Homecoming Court! Congratulations to Kaaliyah Gardner, Homecoming Queen, and Tycen Gardner, Homecoming King!

Our Marching Band, Flagline, Candy Canes, and Cheerleaders brought incredible energy to both pregame and halftime. They did an amazing job helping make the evening one to remember!

And what better way to end the night than with a Hurricane Football Team victory!

Mrs. Kraner’s 3rd graders took time to learn about and honor September 11th, 2001. Through discussion and a special class activity, students learned about the heroes, acts of bravery, and importance of remembering those who were affected by this day. We are proud to honor the courage, kindness, and unity that continue to remind us that we are stronger together.

A HUGE thank you to our HWL teachers, administrators, and staff, who gave their time tonight to pack food bags for the New Castle Breadbasket Program!

This program is available to all K–12 students. Each week, participating students take home a bag filled with snacks and items for breakfast, lunch, and dinner to help provide food for the weekend. ⭐️Families interested in participating can contact their student’s office to sign up.

We are so grateful for the incredible community partners who make this program possible:

⭐️New Life Breadbasket Food Pantry & New Life Baptist Church for helping order and organize food
⭐️1st Presbyterian Church for providing our weekly packing site
⭐️Our coalition of funders and generous donors for supporting the program
⭐️Our staff and student volunteers for donating their time each week
⭐️NCASD Food Services for their help to organize and deliver food each week to buildings

Thank you to everyone who continues to make the New Castle Breadbasket Program a success! Together, we are making a difference for our students and families.

Mrs. Dicks’ students ROARED for Reading!

After reading Library Lion by Michelle Knudsen, HWL students brought the story to life with their own Library Lion creations!

Kindergarten students practiced coloring and creativity, while our older students added a fun challenge by cutting, curling, and assembling their lions’ manes. Along the way, they talked about taking care of our library, following library rules, and, most importantly, developing a love of books and reading. Just look at these proud readers and their amazing lions!
