Our freezer went out last week and we found ourselves in a bit of a dilemma. Because of partnerships in our community, the situation was handled. We would like to thank Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken, for their continual support and for supplying us with a new refrigerator/freezer! Again THANK YOU!!!šŸ™‚

IMPORTANT STATE DISASTER RELIEF FUND UPDATE:

Due to the high volume of applicants, IDHS has enlisted the help of a vendor, Bright Harbor, to process these applications. If an applicant receives an email from IDHS ([email protected]) or [email protected], please follow the instructions.

IDHS sent an email to applicants on Wednesday, Sept. 2, asking for more information after an initial assessment of their application was complete:
• Proof of identity
• Proof of ownership (renter or homeowner)
• Payment information

(If you did not receive this and think you should have, please check your spam/junk folder)

Completing the application includes providing payment information: either direct deposit or an address for a physical check.

If an applicant chooses direct deposit, bank account details must be verified by either connecting the account (fastest) or via manual entry.

If an applicant chooses manual entry, they will need to enter their routing number, account number and account type. Two very small deposits will arrive in 1-2 business days to verify the account. These credits and debits will be originated from Bright Harbor Recovery, Inc., which may show on statements at ā€œBright Harbor Re.ā€ Bank statements may also show ā€œACCTVERIFYā€ in the statement description of these transactions. The applicant will need to return to the portal and enter this information for the verification step to be complete.

Providing these details is not a guarantee that the grant will be awarded but will complete the application for final review.

If you have any questions about your application, please email [email protected].

Do you know when YOUR SNAP recertification date is? If you're receiving SNAP, you'll need to recertify every six months from when your application was first accepted. If you do not recertify, you may have a loss in benefits or be denied SNAP and have to begin the application process all over again.

Now is a good time to mark your calendar or put an alert in your phone - make sure you have a reminder to start gathering documents well ahead of your recertification date!

You can learn more here: https://www.propel.app/snap/food-stamp-recertification-how-does-it-work/

How do I Apply?
The fastest way to apply is online at DisasterAssistance.gov or the Spanish language DisasterAssistance.gov/es. Money may be available to help you with serious needs like hotel costs, displacement costs, basic home repair costs, personal property loss or other disaster-caused needs.

If you can’t apply online, come to the Mobile Registration Intake Center (MRIC) detailed below or call the FEMA helpline at 800-621-3362. If you use video relay service, captioned telephone service or others, give FEMA your number for that service.

You will need to provide the following information when applying (please bring this information to the MRIC):
• Your contact information (phone number, current mailing address, email address, and damaged home address).
• Your Social Security number.
• A general list of damage and losses.
• Annual household income.
• Banking information if you choose direct deposit.
• If insured, the policy number or the agent and/or the company name.
