Today, we pause to remember and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and all those whose lives were forever changed.

Our hearts are with the families, first responders, survivors, and all who continue to carry the lasting impact of that day.

As a community, we remember the strength, compassion, and unity that brought people together in the face of unimaginable loss. May we continue to lead with kindness, support one another, and hold close those we love.

New Canaan CARES stands with our community in remembrance, reflection, and hope. ❤️🇺🇸

September is Su***de Prevention Month, and September 8 is 988 Day.

This year’s theme, “988 Reasons: Your reason is reason enough,” is an important reminder that you don’t have to wait until you’re in crisis to reach out for support. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, worried about someone you care about, struggling with your mental health, or simply need someone to talk to—your reason is enough.

The 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline is available 24/7. Call or text 988 to connect with a trained crisis counselor.

This September, help us spread the word, reduce stigma, and remind our community that support is always within reach.

AI is rapidly changing the way our kids learn, communicate, create, and navigate the world. How can families prepare for what’s ahead? Join New Canaan CARES for our Fall Community Conversation, Preparing for the Age of AI, featuring New Canaan father-and-son perspective from Conor & Finn Grennan.

Conor Grennan, CEO of AI Mindset and former Chief AI Architect at NYU Stern, and his son Finn have been exploring AI together since the early days of ChatGPT. As summer winds down and we enjoy these last few weeks before school starts, it's also okay if this time of year brings unexpected emotions. Whether you're watching movies on a rainy day, bingeing a new show, or simply spending more time together as a family, the stories we watch can sometimes hit closer to home than we expect.

If something you watch sparks difficult conversations or brings up big feelings, know that you don't have to navigate them alone. Talking to a trusted friend, family member, or mental health professional is always a great place to start.

If you or someone you know needs support, these community mental health resources are here to help.

If you need additional support, these resources are available:

• 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline: Call, text, or chat 988.
• Mobile Crisis Intervention Services: Call or text 211 (24/7). Professionals can come to your home or community site during a crisis.
• Kids In Crisis Hotline (for teens): 203-661-1911.
• New Canaan Youth & Family Services: 203-594-3076. Support for mental health, substance use, and domestic violence.
• The Assessment Program at Silver Hill: 1-866-542-4455. Free program connecting New Canaan residents to mental health treatment.
• New Canaan Parent Support Group: ncparentsupportgroup.org. Support for parents of loved ones affected by addiction.

Seeking support is a sign of strength, and help is always available. Save these resources, you never know when they might help you or someone you care about.💙💚
