Celebrating New Canaan’s 250th Fourth of July Together

The Town of New Canaan, the New Canaan Fireworks Committee, and New Canaan Parks & Recreation are pleased to officially recognize a Sensory Care Zone as part of this year’s celebration.

New Canaan High School Soccer Fields (Farm Road)

This designated viewing area offers a more relaxed experience for those who prefer:
✔ Less crowd density
✔ Lower noise levels
✔ More space and flexibility to move about
✔ A less overwhelming view of the fireworks

By officially recognizing this space, we hope more members of our community will feel comfortable attending the fireworks in a way that works best for them.

💙 Supported in collaboration with Inclusive Together.

Please note: A valid fireworks pass is required for all attendees.

As we get closer to the 4th of July, it’s a great time to start thinking about how to celebrate safely while still keeping the fun and excitement of the holiday alive. 🇺🇸✨

Fireworks are a long-standing tradition for holidays and celebrations, but they also present significant safety risks, including burns, fires, injuries, and property damage. In recent years, many communities and families have begun exploring safer alternatives that provide the same sense of excitement and celebration without the dangers associated with open flames and explosives.

Options such as drone light shows, laser displays, LED glow products, and other non-pyrotechnic activities can create memorable experiences while helping protect people, pets, property, and the environment. By choosing safer alternatives, celebrations can remain festive, enjoyable, and responsible for everyone involved.

🏘️ New Canaan Affordable Housing Survey.. Share Your Input

The Town’s Affordable Housing Committee (AHC) is inviting all residents to participate in the Affordable Housing Survey, open now through June 23.

Following the well-attended public workshop on May 19, the Committee is seeking community feedback on affordable housing in New Canaan and on potential locations for future Town-developed affordable housing.

The Affordable Housing Committee was established to help New Canaan maintain local control over affordable housing planning and to develop recommendations that reflect community priorities.
Survey responses, along with feedback from the public workshop, will help guide the Committee’s recommendations to the Board of Selectmen.

✅ Take the survey before June 23
✅ Watch the May 19 workshop presentation
✅ Learn more through the Affordable Housing FAQ
