Since 1989, Elijah’s Promise has harnessed the power of food to break the cycle of poverty, alleviate hunger and change lives for the most vulnerable members of our Central New Jersey community. We operate a community soup kitchen, culinary arts school, community gardens and catering business, and connect low-income individuals and families with social and health services. With the support of volu

nteers, donors and community partners, we serve more than 200,000 meals per year and train previously unskilled workers for careers in the food services industry.

Happy World Hunger Day !

To commemorate this important day, we are sharing an update on our mobile meals food truck match gift! Because of all of our supporters and amazing donors, we were able to meet our $30,000 match gift by the Struminger Family!

We are so excited to get a new truck with more capacity on the road soon. We are extremely grateful to the New Jersey Economic Development Authority via FeedNJ for helping to fill and fuel the new truck!

Today we want to recognize Deputy Chief Michael Bobadilla of the New Brunswick Police Department. We are so honored to give him this recognition for the work he continuously pours into our community.

Meet Larry Russock 🧑🏻‍🍳

One of our very own 2025 Promise Culinary School Alum.

Since graduating from Promise Culinary, Larry has been working at Uncle Tank’s Kitchen and Bar as a Line Cook.

“Uncle Tank” or Mike DeAngelis opened Uncle Tank’s in 2023: a full-service, family and community-oriented restaurant and bar. “Good Food, Good Drinks, Good Company” is their motto.

Uncle Tank has participated for over 20 years, at Elijah’s Promise annual Chefs Night event and will be doing so again this year on June 8th, make sure to stop by and say Hi to Uncle Tank and Larry! 👋🏼
