On Wednesday, the City of New Brunswick proudly celebrated the promotion of three dedicated members of the New Brunswick Fire Department:

• Captain Michael Pilch was promoted to Deputy Fire Chief of the 2nd Platoon.
• Lieutenant Oniel Martinez was promoted to Captain of Engine 1 on the 2nd Platoon.
• Firefighter Jorge Otero was promoted to Lieutenant of Engine 5 on the 4th Platoon.

Captain Martinez is the grandson of the City’s first Hispanic firefighter, Epifanio “Freddie” Colon who served from 1965-1991.
