Sweet dreams! See you at the Festival tomorrow...
Many of you have asked for the lyrics to our Babcia's Polish Lullaby. It was written by one of our Polonia Business Association members in honor of his own grandmother. It references Kotki Dwa, a popular children's song in Poland. Our version takes some liberties including changing the A As to la las :)
Tm
We've been surprised by the response. Thank you. Over 40 thousand views in just a few days.
The Polish version is
A a a, kotki dwa, szarobure obydwa,
Nic nie będą robiły, tylko ciebie bawiły.
A a a, kotki dwa, szarobure obydwa,
Jak się kotki rozegrały, to dziecinę kołysały.
A a a, kotki dwa, szarobure obydwa,
Jeden szary, drugi bury, a ten trzeci myk! do dziury.
A a a, kotki dwa, szarobure obydwa,
Żeby tylko jeden był, to by z tobą mleczko pił.
As requested. Here are the lyrics to our song that was writtenfor the Little PolandFestival. .
[Intro]
[verse]Your Mama and Tata went out tonight,
And they left me quite a chore,
"Babcia, watch our little one,"
Like you've done before.
So come and sit by Babcia dear,
While the moon shines soft above,
I'll rock you gently off to sleep
And teach you words of love.
"Skarbek" means my treasure
"Serduszko" means my heart,
These little Polish words of love
We'll learn before we part
A la la kotki dwa,
Szarobure obydwa,
A la la, go to sleep,
Loo loo la la la.
A la la kotki dwa,
Dream beneath the stars above,
A la la, little one,
Wrapped in Babcia's love.
You're my skarbek, little treasure,
You're my słonko, shining bright,
You're my aniołek, little angel,
Sleeping through the night.
You're my kochanie, dearest darling,
You're my serduszko too,
Every Polish word I whisper
Says how much I love you.
A la la kotki dwa,
Szarobure obydwa,
A la la, go to sleep,
Loo loo la la la.
A la la kotki dwa,
Dream beneath the stars above,
A la la, little one,
You'll always have Babcia's love.
When the stars peek through the night
And the world is still and deep,
Babcia's arms will keep you cozy,
Safe and sound asleep.
Tomorrow we'll make pierogi,
Maybe sneak a treat or two,
But tonight we'll dream in Polish,
As the moon smiles down on you.
A la la kotki dwa,
Szarobure obydwa,
A la la, go to sleep,
Loo loo la la la.
A la la, little skarbek,
Close your sleepy eyes tonight,
Babcia's here beside you,
Till the morning light.
