Last week, in Celebration of NeighborWorks ( NeighborWorks America) Weeks 2026, we attended Smalley Elementary School's Multi-Cultural Festival! 🎉

This year’s NeighborWorks Weeks theme, “Creating Homes, Building America” (“Creando Hogares, Construyendo América”), reflects the importance of expanding housing opportunities, strengthening communities, and fostering economic resilience.

We believe that when we elevate voices from all walks of life and celebrate the homes, cultures, and experiences of families, we help create neighborhoods where everyone feels seen, valued, and empowered. We were proud to help share this sentiment with the families at Smalley Elementary School. 🌳

NeighborWorks ( NeighborWorks America) Weeks 2026 gives us the opportunity to celebrate the incredible partnerships that help us strengthen communities throughout New Britain and across Connecticut.

We are especially grateful for our partnership with Smalley Elementary School, which allows us to connect with local families, share valuable educational resources, and help ensure community members have access to the information and support they need.

It’s day 5 of NeighborWorks Weeks (NeighborWorks America)! We continue to celebrate the theme “Creating Homes, Building America” by recognizing that strong communities are built not only through affordable and safe housing, but through connection, creativity, and belonging.

Through our creative community development programs held at NHS-Gallery 66, we create spaces where residents can engage, learn, express themselves, and feel connected to their neighbors and community.

One participant from our 55+ art classes shared:

“There is a feeling of community and camaraderie among the group… It has been a real blessing to have something I really want to do to get me out of the house and into my community.”

We believe creating homes also means creating opportunities for people to feel seen, supported, and empowered in the place they call home. 🏡

We had a wonderful time attending the YWCA New Britain's Women in Leadership Awards yesterday!

Members of our Community Building & Development, Home Services, and Property Management teams left feeling inspired by the incredible women being recognized in our community.

It was powerful to celebrate leaders who continue to persevere, serve those most in need, and empower others through their work and leadership.

We’re grateful to have been part of such a meaningful event and to show our support for the important work done at the YWCA of New Britain.
