Pedestrian Fatality Traffic Accident

On today’s date (06/05/26), at approximately 8:35am, the New Braunfels Police Department and Fire Department were called to the 1100 block of I-35 North, on the southbound frontage road just south of Loop 337/Hwy 46 South, for an auto/pedestrian collision.

Officers arrived and found that a 30-year old male from New Braunfels was walking on the sidewalk along the frontage road when he was struck by a flatbed truck leaving a business and turning onto the frontage road. The victim suffered fatal injuries and was deceased at the scene. The driver of the truck, a 43-year old male from New Braunfels, was uninjured in the incident, remained on scene, and he is not currently facing criminal charges.

The NBPD Traffic Unit was called to the scene to conduct a full traffic reconstruction investigation, and that area of the I-35 frontage road remain closed for approximately 3 hours. The incident remains under investigation.

TRAFFIC ALERT: The 1100 block of southbound I-35 frontage road (just south of Loop 337/Hwy 46 South) is currently closed due to an auto/pedestrian fatality traffic accident. Body of Deceased Female Located in Guadalupe River

On today’s date (June 2, 2026) at approximately 6:00pm, the body of a deceased female was located in the Guadalupe River during a planned search conducted by the New Braunfels Police and Fire Departments in coordination with Texas Search and Rescue (TEXSAR) and the New Braunfels Community Emergency Response Team (NBCERT). The body has not yet been positively identified.

The search was being conducted as part of the efforts to locate 59-year-old Juliet Elizabeth Watson, who was reported missing on May 26, 2026. This area has been the focus of several searches within the past week. During the search, the body of an adult female was discovered along the banks of the Guadalupe River near the 700 block of Rusk Lane. At the time of this release, the body has not been able to be identified but is being sent to a medical examiner for an autopsy and identification. The case remains under investigation by the New Braunfels Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division.

Effective today, Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 10:00am, recreation access to the Comal River will be open.

Debris has been cleaned up by City staff and the water clarity is returning to normal. However, river-goers should still be cautious of debris that may not be visible under the water’s surface. The City of New Braunfels encourages the use of life vests while participating in any water-related activity.

Access to the Comal River in New Braunfels for recreation is temporarily closed due to overnight storms.

City officials will reevaluate river conditions Thursday morning to determine when river recreation can resume.

Please remember to TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN whenever you see water over a roadway and never drive around barricades.
