Good morning, Comal County! Here's a look at what's headed our way this week.
Today starts off partly cloudy, but expect some isolated showers and thunderstorms to push in during the afternoon as a sea breeze pulls moisture up from the Coastal Plains.
The bigger story is the heat building through the weekend. We're talking mid-to-upper 90s by Saturday and Sunday, with humid conditions making it feel even hotter than that.
Next week stays mostly dry, but a few showers could sneak in here and there.

Five more veterans are starting a new chapter today. Comal County's Veterans Treatment Court graduation is always one of the most meaningful events we get to witness. The innovator behind the VTC is Judge Charles Stephens of the County Court at Law No. 2. Judge Stephens saw a need to provide military veterans with an alternative to the traditional criminal justice system. These men and women put in the work, and today it shows. After years of welfare concerns, 23 horses have finally been removed from a Bulverde property.
On June 5, the Comal County Sheriff's Office, the American Humane Society, and the Texas Livestock Protection Association worked together to remove 23 horses from a Bulverde property following a multi-year neglect investigation.
The operation came after 28 welfare concern calls were made to the Sheriff's Office. A licensed veterinarian evaluated the animals and confirmed they were being neglected and cruelly treated under Texas Health and Safety Code, Chapter 821.
The horses have been safely relocated. Their location is not being disclosed at this time as the investigation remains ongoing. A hearing will be scheduled to determine next steps for the horses and potential charges against their owners.
If you'd like to help, donations can be made to the Texas Livestock Protection Association or the American Humane Society.

Canyon Lake is a summer staple here in Comal County. Please be safe out there. Deputies responded to a cliff jumping incident at Comal Park this past weekend that sent one person to the hospital. Know the water before you get in it, and look out for each other.

Comal County let's be safe at Canyon Lake!

This past weekend our deputies were on lake patrol when they responded to a medical emergency. Deputies learned that a young person jumped off the cliffs at Comal Park and landed on another swimmer. One subject had a minor injury and another was transported to a local hospital after Deputy Nichols got him to shore.

Be sure to:
โœ… follow all signage on shore
โŒ never jump when depths and objects under water are unknown
โŒ never swim alone
โœ… always wear a Coast Guard approved life jacket if not a strong swimmer

Thank you to the Comal County Sheriff's Office and Texas Game Wardens lake patrol units for their assistance.

We'll be out on the lake all summer. We need your partnership to help keep everyone safe. If you see unsafe activity or someone in need of help, please call dispatch at 830-620-3400.
