"Calls for air support went unheeded, because America had pulled the maintenance capability of the very aircraft that would have responded. There was no help coming." (Emphasis mine, BBN) The US not only withdrew our 2500 troops from Bagram Air Base, the Biden Administration banned non-military contractors from providing technical support - repairs as well as routine maintenance - for the aircraft that the Afghanistan military needed.
