Thank you to everyone who came out to our senior center chicken BBQ for Barre/Hardwick and New Braintree senior centers!!

Today, with the help of South Barre Rod and Gun along with our sponsor Webster First Federal Credit Union we fed 150+ hungry BBQ fans!

We appreciate everyone who helped on this hot day today along with National Grid and DA Joseph Early’s office who presented information. Thank you to Barre Police Sergeants Chick, Davidson and comfort K-9 Barry for visiting.

We are already planning next year’s BBQ, see you then!

Detour tonight (6/11/26) those traveling Rt 67 in New Braintree

Please be advised that New Braintree Rd (Rte 67) will be closed to thru traffic tonight from approximately 6:30PM-5:30AM to allow ongoing paving operations.

A detour will be set up, rerouting north bound traffic onto Oakham Rd (Rte 148), to Robinson Rd, to Worcester Rd, which then intersects with Rte 67 in New Braintree. South bound traffic will be rerouted along this same detour in reverse order.

Residents who live within this section of New Braintree Rd will be assisted through the construction zone by detail officers but are encouraged to make necessary arrangements to avoid needing to travel during this time period. Please note that there may be significant delays.

Residents of Bell Rd, Mill Rd and Stoddard Rd areas are encouraged to avoid travel utilizing New Braintree Rd.

Last night Hardwick/New Braintree Officers assisted a resident with a small bear cub. The small bear cub had accidentally made its way into a varmint cage trap. Officers carefully assisted the cub out of the trap with out any incident or injury. The bear cub made its way back into the wood line where its mother and sibling were waiting. 🐻

Hardwick Memorial Day schedule for Sunday, May 24th:

Wheelwright - WWII memorial, Barre Rd., 1000

Hardwick - Assemble on west side of Common and proceed to the Civil War memorial on the Common, 1045; after services there, proceed to the Revolutionary War cemetery adjacent to the old Town Hall, reassemble at the Hardwick Cemetery at 1115 across from the Highway barn on Petersham Rd.

Gilbertville - St. Aloysius cemetery, Upper Church St., 1200; WWI memorial, Rte. 32, Main St., 1230.

**Road Closure on Barre Rd. in Hardwick** The section of Barre Rd. between Prouty Rd and Chagnon Rd. Is closed for a tree down with power lines. National Grid has been notified.
