It's hard to believe another school year is here! As students head back to the classroom, we want to wish all of our students, teachers, staff, and families a safe, successful, and exciting school year!

With school back in session, we also want to remind everyone that safety is a team effort.

🚌 School Bus Safety
- Slow down and stay alert around school buses and bus stops.
- Stop when a school bus has its red lights activated - no exceptions.
- Children should stay a safe distance from the roadway while waiting for the bus.
- Look both ways before crossing and follow the bus driver's instructions.

🚗 Driver Safety
- Expect extra traffic, pedestrians, bicycles, and school buses.
- Obey posted speed limits and use extra caution in school zones.
- Put the phone down. Seriously. It can wait.
- Give yourself extra time and please remember that getting there 30 seconds faster isn't worth putting someone at risk.

Let’s all do our part to make sure our students get to school safely and make it home safely every day.

If you are going to the fair get your tickets online by 9/1. Tickets sales are happening at the New Boston Farmers Market on Sat. Sept. 5th as well from 10am-1pm.

Online ordering for fair passes ends tomorrow, September 1,2026! Get yours now and save some money!

Just a reminder! Whipple Free Library has an hours update!

Dear New Boston Community,

We continually strive to balance providing exceptional library services while maintaining fiscal responsibility and the well-being of our dedicated staff. After careful review and evaluation of library usage, operating costs, and budget constraints, we have made the difficult, but necessary decision, to adjust our open hours.

Starting Saturday, August 28, we will be closed on Saturdays, except for the second Saturday of each month. This includes the inability to reserve our meeting rooms on those days. By reducing the operational costs of being open (electricity, a/c, wear and tear on the building, etc.), we will be able to maintain the quality of service that our residents deserve and have come to expect.

We understand that reducing hours impacts your daily routines and access to our resources, and we do not make this decision lightly. We wanted to take the opportunity to explain why this is taking place. We will reevaluate our hours in March after the vote on the 2027 budget.

Please be assured that all our regular services remain available to you, including access to our digital resources which are available 24/7.

We appreciate your understanding and continued support.

-September 12th (This is our Friends annual book sale!)
-October 10th (We will be closed Monday, Oct 12th for Columbus Day)

This is a WONDERFUL idea! Definitely consider donating folks!

Heads up, Halloween fans! It's time to mark your calendars for our Costume Swap! We are seeking donations for children's costumes, teen costumes, and -tasteful- adult costumes. Bring your donations to the front desk starting August 31 and get a ticket for first dibs on October 2!

Beyond amazed how many donations came in!! Folks these backpacks were FILLED with all sorts of supplies! So thank you for bringing items to Recreation or New Boston Police Department! Definitely a great partnership to serve the the community and help students be prepared for the school year!

If you haven’t heard New Boston Recreation was finally able to present and recognize a valuable volunteer in the New Boston community! We are thrilled that we could share and celebrate Laura Bernard for all of her achievements with the Fourth of July association and all that she has done for New Boston!
