Slowly, but surely I’m seeing progress this Spring. Some sales and a significant renewed interest in breeding to our stallions, despite my failure to officially promote them. Positive word of mouth, via happy customers is a wonderful thing!

Wow, I didn’t realize I’d been away so long! I’ve got many excuses, new health problems is most legit. Breeding season is now underway & I’ve done nothing to promote my stallions. Due to a few recent sales of his get, we’ve had some renewed interest in Gipper. I commented “oh great now that he’s 25.” Richmond replied “Hey he’s not dead yet, don’t count him out!” I told him I hope he says the same about me!

2021’s perfect pair of Ladies in the 3-gaited division. Young, beautiful and incredibly talented, Callaway’s Ivanka & Ava Stachowski, were the unanimous champions at Rock Creek and Lexington. Stars in the show ring, both horse and rider also have kind hearts. Makes them even more special to us- Congratulations! Best of luck at KSF!💙

Mexico, MO., once noted the “Saddlebred Horse Capital of the World” is home to the oldest known building continuously devoted to boarding and training champion American Saddlebreds. Built in 1887, its last occupant was famed trainer, Arthur Simmons.

The barn has since been restored by the Simmons’ Stable Preservation Fund, Inc., a 501-c-3 organization which also established the International Saddlebred Hall of Fame. (saddlebredhalloffame.org)

Callaway Hills Stables, Mr. & Mrs. William H. Weldon & I were amongst those inducted into the Hall of Fame last month. The ceremony followed a dinner held in the beautifully revitalized barn.

Pretty much a recluse these days, I had balked at being inducted until a previous inductee, Gayle Lampe insisted. (No idea why I obey Ms. Lampe!) Admittedly, I’m glad I attended.

It was a very nice event and quite an enjoyable evening. Thank you to Bobette Balser Wilson, Co-President of the Preservation Fund Board; Paulette Schroeder, Master of Ceremonies; & good friends, Roger and Karen Connell, who kindly hauled me.

I’m partial to CH Caramac. Local Legend, at 4, is the youngest we have left to sell. After only a month under saddle, I doubt he’ll show his full potential. While I can’t guarantee he’ll be a world be**er, I am confident he will make a flashy show horse for someone. He’s got the look and a ton of snort. A full brother to Callaway’s Say Yes!, WC JR. We have six horses going through Jimmy Robertson’s sale Wednesday. Albeit very far behind, they honestly are all nice horses. Although Samone is here now, it’s impossible to get us caught up without moving a few of our older horses on. He will be riding the oldest of the group, the 5 yr old bay gelding below through (573) 353-8401, Samone’s cell.
