Strong winds over the past few days have swept many tree leaves to the ground and brought down a scattering of cypress needles as well. Here’s a look at Beaver Lake at the PGT, where the cypress needles now drift gently on the surface, adding a touch of autumn to the water.

The dogwoods are at peak fall color now. I encourage you to come out for a walk to see them.

At the Prairie Garden Trust (PGT) you can find dogwoods on the edges of the woods, especially on the south side of Indigo Prairie.

Persimmon Grove
Still not much color in the forest but the persimmons are showing some fall color. In this picture they’ve turned a rich yellow. The red that you see is the Virginia Creeper vine.

At the PGT you’re most likely to find persimmon trees growing along the edge of the woods.
