North Carolina was not a spectator in the American Revolution. We were among its architects.
From the Mecklenburg Resolves to the Halifax Resolves, the first official action by any colony calling for independence from Great Britain, to the Battle of Moores Creek Bridge...North Carolina helped light the flame of American liberty. Our citizens fought, sacrificed, and bled to secure the freedoms that all Americans enjoy today. The story of our state is inseparable from the story of our nation's founding.
That is why Josh Stein's decision to keep North Carolina from participating in America's 250th Birthday Celebration is more than just a little disappointing...it is an outrage!
North Carolina deserved a seat at this historic celebration. More importantly, the people of North Carolina deserved to be represented. America's 250th birthday is bigger than any one politician. It is bigger than any one administration. It is a celebration of the nation itself.
We will be represented, no thanks to Josh Stein. Three businesses — SPEVCO, Richard Childress Racing, and Operation Helo — have stepped up to be the primary sponsors of the North Carolina pavilion." We are thrilled that some chose to take responsibility for sponsoring our North Carolina Pavilion at the fair...and angry that they had to do it.
History will remember this anniversary. And history will remember that Josh Stein was so petty that he prevented North Carolina from officially taking part. Elections have consequences. We should remember who Stein really is when he comes up for reelection in 2028.
NC is one of nine states that will not be sending an official delegation to the Great American State Fair taking place from June 25-July 10 on the National Mall in Washington, DC.
