📚☀️ A Summer of Reading, Growth, and Fun! ☀️📚

This summer, our Read to Achieve Camp welcomed approximately 400 students who have just completed 2nd and 3rd grade at eight sites across the district: Roger Bell New Tech Academy, Arthur W. Edwards Elementary, Creekside Elementary, Trent Park Elementary, Ben D. Quinn Elementary, Bridgeton Elementary, Vanceboro Farm Life Elementary, and James W. Smith Elementary.

From June 8–22, students attended daily from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., engaging in meaningful reading instruction, hands-on learning experiences, and plenty of fun along the way. We are incredibly proud of the growth our students have demonstrated and the enthusiasm they have shown for reading throughout the program.

A special thank you goes to our dedicated educators who provided their time and talents to make these days engaging and successful. We also extend our appreciation to our outstanding School Nutrition staff for providing nutritious meals to support our students each day.

One of the highlights of Read to Achieve Camp has been the opportunity for students to connect not only with great books but also with community members who have generously served as guest readers. These experiences help inspire a lifelong love of reading and learning.

Interested in becoming a guest reader before our final day on Monday, June 22? We'd love to have you! Please contact the school of your choice directly for more information.

🌟 Setting the Stage for a Great 2026-2027 School Year! 🌟

Today, Dr. Cheeseman, Superintendent, led a leadership meeting with all CCS principals and assistant principals focused on preparing for an outstanding year ahead.

The learning centered on establishing clear expectations for the 2026-2027 school year while reflecting on our core business, our true north star, innovation, and the framework for powerful results.

This was a meaningful opportunity to set the culture for the new school year, strengthen alignment across the district, and continue building the capacity of our school leaders.
We are ready to keep growing this summer as we prepare for our best year yet! 💙
