Ms. Wright's 6th Graders took on the "Ascend Challenge" for a month where they timed themselves for 2 minutes every day to see how many math facts they can get in those two minutes on Ascend. If they scored 14,000 correct answers as a class in that month then they would earn an ice-cream cake. Well, they crushed it by almost 1,000 correct answers (14,974 correct answers) and earned their cake! Great job students!

Some of our 8th graders had a chance to visit the New Berlin Library and Museum last week to see their wide variety of local artifacts. They viewed many items they've been learning about from the World War II time period, including a ration book, soldier uniforms, and photographs. What a great learning experience and right in our own community!

Two students represented UV at the Chenango Youth Philanthropy Council's annual award ceremony on Tuesday.

This year Norwich High School hosted the CYPC’s year-end awards ceremony in their Career and Technical Center in the High School. Student members received certificates of recognition and hand-delivered monetary donations to representatives of local non-profit organizations.

This year’s CYPC Award recipients were Aunt Mary’s House, the Chenango County Historical Society, the Chenango County Greenway Conservancy, Norwich Theater Company, and Camp Fiver.

The ceremony featured comments from students from each school. Sarina Bell and Annie Rogers spoke on behalf of UVCS and did a great job!

Together, CYPC student members and their advisors sat on boards, volunteered their time to their school and community, and raised money to support local non-profits and address the needs of Chenango County residents during the 2025-26 school year.

The Unadilla Valley Community Scholarship Fund (UVCSF) held its 8th annual Family Fun Run and Walk on Sunday! Mother Nature provided a beautiful day, as more then 140 runners and walkers completed the 2.5-mile course. Donations, food, and door prizes were provided by a number of local organizations and companies that were once again recognized on this year's donor banner. UVCSF, along with National Honor Society members, volunteered at registration tables, the water stop, and along the course to make the event a great success. In the end, over $3,500 was raised that will go towards scholarships for this and future classes. We thank all those that supported the event and hope to see you next year for our 9th Annual Family Fun Run and Walk!
