We know that the SDNB will be represented in the WIAA Division 3 Girls State Soccer Tournament next week.

We just don’t know yet which team will be there!

Thanks to second-seeded Eisenhower’s 5-0 blanking of Shorewood and fourth-seeded West’s 2-1 upset of Grafton, both yesterday, the Lions and Vikings will square off in Saturday’s sectional final at Whitnall High School at 7:30 p.m. The match was previously slated for 1 p.m. at Cedar Grove-Belgium, but changes were approved by the WIAA to accommodate a more convenient location and West’s graduation ceremony.

The Vikings are vying for just the second state tournament appearance in the program’s history and first since 2002. The Lions, meanwhile, are more seasoned when it comes to the state tournament; they have been there eight times, including 2021 through 2023, and won the 2022 title.

The state tournament runs June 18-20 at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee. Division 3 semifinals are at 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday, June 19, with the championship scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday, June 20.
