What and Who is Active Day Capeway?
Active Day of New Bedford-Capeway began it’s life as Capeway Adult Day Health Center in 1996 when Jake Cosme was looking for a program for his father. When he toured the available ADHs at that time, he didn’t feel there was one that would be a good fit for his dad and decided to start his own ADH. Capeway started with just a few members and grew and grew into one of the areas largest programs. The doors of Capeway were open to all people of all nationalities and backgrounds. Multi lingual staff were there from the start to help members communicate in their first language.
In September of 2017, Jake decided it was time to retire and handed the reigns over to Active Day Inc. and we became Active Day of New Bedford-Capeway. Active Day Inc. owns over 90 centers in the US and strives to provide excellent services to the people that attend the centers. We offer fun and exciting activities, comprehensive nursing and social services. We go on outings, do arts and crafts, play games, have musical entertainment and exercise throughout the week, just to name a few. Our meals are overseen by a dietitian and are home cooked onsite. Counseling, physical and occupational therapies are available on site. We accept members that are as young as 18 and older who may have developmental, mental health and/or medical challenges. Each member is seen as a person first not as a diagnosis. We continue to have multilingual staff and enjoy celebrating the different cultures of all people.
Attending our program changes lives for the better and assures safety for people that should not be home alone. Call us at 508-985-9076 to arrange for a free no pressure tour. You will be glad you did!
