Jason P. Mendes Memorial Fund hosting Food Drive at Bowl-A-Thon!!!!!

M.O. Food Pantry’s Event Partner Program (EPP) is kicking into high gear with our second partnering organization hosting a Food Drive. The Jason P. Mendes Memorial Fund will be hosting their annual Bowl-A-Thon on Saturday June 21st from 7pm until closing at the New Bedford Wonder Bowl. As part of this year’s event they are joining the fight against local hunger, and asking all of their event participants to bring down a jar of peanut butter (Food Panty #1 need) or any other perishable food items when they come to bowl.

This great organization has an amazing night planned, including giveaways, auction items, and did we mention the Bowling. They have a fantastic local band coming in for this year’s event, The Relics, are always a crowd favorite. The team at the Jason P. Mendes Memorial Fund are inviting everyone down to Wonder Bowl, even if you are not bowling please come down to enjoy the band, possibly make a donation to the cause and enjoy the evening.

1/2 Ton of food, and 1,080 Meals collected!!!

Last weeks food drive at the F.A.L.L. Opening Day event was an overwhelming success. We collected over 1,200+ lbs of food donations, and collected donations worth an additional 1,080 meals, in our fight against hunger.
Many thanks to all the folks at F.A.L.L. that assisted in making this happen. We look forward to next years event.

Fairhaven Acushnet Little League opening day food drive!!!!

Hi everyone, just a reminder that our first Event Partner Program (EPP) participant, Fairhaven Acushnet Little League is hosting a food drive at Pope Park on May 3rd during their opening day festivities. Make sure to bring a non-perishable food item to opening day for your chance to win one of two Dick's Sporting Goods gift certificates.

We will be rolling out a couple things at this event:

1. Our new MO Life Food Pantry Awareness Tent. It will be the central point for food collections, sponsorship info, and general information about how people can help our fight against hunger.

2. As communicated at the 2014 MO Life Ball, we will be using this event to kick off our Household Sponsorship Program (HSP). This program allows families a chance to help in the costly fight against local hunger by making a $25 donation (.50 per week/per year). Don't forget to put your HSP participation emblems in your car windows so everyone knows about the program!!!!!! See you all there.

Can't wait to see everyone on Saturday. Rain date is Sunday.

FAIRHAVEN ACUSHNET LITTLE LEAGUE TO HOST FOOD DRIVE!!

M.O. Food Pantry is pleased to announce our first participant in the newly formed Event Partner Program. The Fairhaven Acushnet Little League (F.A.L.L.) will be teaming up with M.O. Food Pantry in early May to fight local hunger.

F.A.L.L. Board of Directors met earlier this week and unanimously agreed to host a food drive event benefitting the M.O. Food Pantry during their Opening Day activities.

We look forward to the planning and ex*****on of this event. Two great community organizations coming together to create amazing results.

The M.O. Food Pantry is excited to announce the launch of our newest program. The Event Partner Program (EPP). The Event Partner Program is designed to assist groups, organizations, etc., that have an interest in hosting events that benefit the M.O. Food Pantry, but may need some assistance.

Groups/organizations range from individual classrooms of local schools, to major organizations developed continued support efforts. Events range from food drives to car washes, from spare coin collection to the holiday road races. No idea is to big or to small when it comes to supporting the local fight against hunger.

If you have a group, organization, or even just a collection of friends wanting to make a difference though an event, please don't hesitate to contact us. We can help guide you though the process, from idea to completion. Message us here on our page, or contact us at 508.992.0122 and join the fight.

The M.O. Food Pantry has finalized it's operational calendar for 2014. Our Pleasant St. location in New Bedford will be open for food distribution on the following dates:
January - 8th, 15th, 29th
February - 5th, 19th, 26th
March - 5th, 19th, 26th
April - 9th, 16th, 30th
May - 7th, 14th, 28th
June - 4th, 18th, 25th
July - 9th, 23rd, 30th
August - 6th, 20th, 27th
September - 3rd, 17th, 24th
October - 8th, 15th, 29th
November - 5th, 19th, 24th for (Turkey Distribution)
December - 3rd, 10th, 17th

Pantry hours are 10am-12pm on these days for food distribution. We are currently working to finalize our donation drop-off and food preparation dates, for our volunteer community. As always we thank you for your continued support in our local fight against hunger.

Yesterday the MO Food Pantry distributed food for Thanksgiving Dinners to over 200 families. 160 frozen turkeys and other preparation foods were handed out, along with numerous frozen chickens and the fixings for a Thanksgiving meal. We couldn't have done all this without the strong support of the Hunger Commission and our dedicated volunteers!

On November 5th, 2013 the 8th grade class from St. Joseph school in Fairhaven came to the M.O. Food Pantry, with all of the collections from their food drive and to help volunteer to prepare bags of food for our clients. It was a great day for all involved, many thanks to the school and the kids for helping in fight against hunger.
