Village Hall has issued Solicitor Permits to individuals from:
* Mad City Windows & Bath (Home Remodeling - Yearly Permit)
* CF Solar Solutions (Solar Panels - Today Only).
They can only solicit between 10am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday. These solicitors have been verified by the New Baden Police Department.
As a reminder: whenever someone comes to your door, ask to see their solicitors permit before discussing anything with them. The Village of New Baden issues very few permits (most companies try to avoid them). Attached is an example the Village's Solicitor’s License. They are always yellow in color and will have my signature on them.
Anytime someone comes to your door and you have an issue or a concern about them, please call the Police Department, 618-588-7741, IMMEDIATELY. Do not wait for a more convenient time as the solicitor could possibly move on from the area. Solicitation hours are only from 10am to 5pm, Monday through Saturday. No solicitation is allowed on Sundays or Holidays.
If you notice door-to-door solicitation after 5pm, please contact the New Baden Police Department, 618-588-7741.
You can also post a sign on your door that states "ONLY REGISTERED SOLICITORS INVITED" OR "NO SOLICITORS INVITED"

02/09/2026

O’FALLON – The Illinois Department of Transportation today announced lane closures on eastbound and westbound Interstate 64 between Illinois 157 and Highway 50 beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, Feb. 9. Traffic will be reduced to two lanes in each direction.

If required, nighttime lane closures will occur during the following times:

Eastbound I-64: 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Westbound I-64: 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The closures are necessary to perform pavement and bridge work and are expected to remain in place through summer 2026.

Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes during this closure. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, be alert for changing conditions, obey all construction signage, and refrain from using mobile devices while approaching and traveling through the work zone.

For IDOT District 8 updates, follow us on the social media platform X at or view area construction details on IDOT’s traveler information map on GettingAroundIllinois.com.

St. Clair County: Beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, lane and ramp closures will be encountered on eastbound I-55/70 for bridge maintenance. Eastbound I-55/70 will be reduced to two lanes between Illinois 203 and Exchange Avenue, and the ramp from westbound I-64 to eastbound I-55/70 will be closed. Work is expected to be completed by 6 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12. http://prez.ly/Ep6d

❄️ **Snow This Weekend | Winter Reminders from the Village** ❄️

Snow is heading our way this weekend, so here’s some helpful information to keep everyone safe, warm, and a little less grumpy with a shovel in hand.

🔥 **Warming Center**
In the event of power outages, **American Legion Post 321** (105 E. Illinois St.) will be open as a warming center. Please share this with anyone who may need it.

❓ The Question We Hear Every Winter

“Why does the plow pile snow at the end of my driveway… the one I just finished shoveling?”

Fair question. Here’s the scoop:

🚜 Why Snow Piles Up at Driveways

* Village snow removal focuses on keeping **public roadways** safe and passable.
* Snow is pushed toward the road shoulders, which naturally creates ridges at driveway entrances.
* See image on how to avoid the "second shovel".

🏠 Why the Village Can’t Clear Driveways

* Clearing each driveway end would require significant time and resources and isn’t practical.
* Residents are responsible for clearing snow at the end of their own driveways.

⏰ Plowing Criteria & Timing

* Plowing typically begins with **4 inches of snow**, or **3 inches with more on the way**.
* Plowing often happens **overnight** to reduce traffic issues, which may mean extra shoveling in the morning.

🤝 How Residents Can Help

1. Please don’t shovel snow into the street. Place it behind the curb or pavement edge so it doesn’t get pushed back into your driveway.
2. Avoid street parking during snowstorms so plows can clear streets more efficiently.
3. Move objects from street edges such as trash and recycling bins, and watch for overhanging items like mailboxes to prevent damage.

🛣️ Plowing Priorities

* Main roads are cleared first; residential streets may take longer during heavy snowfall.
* Roads maintained by the State, County, or Township are cleared by those agencies.

Snow removal isn’t always convenient, but a little cooperation goes a long way in keeping roads safer for everyone.
Thanks for your patience and teamwork and stay warm out there! ☃️
