Borough of New Alexandria New Alexandria settled in 1760 and Incorporated April 10, 1834 by an Act of Assembly. All opinions are welcome and respectful dialogue is encouraged.

Borough of New Alexandria Social Media Policy

The borough’s social media platforms are primarily intended to provide an effective method to convey information about the Town and its events and activities to residents and visitors of new Alexandria. Please be respectful of the community as you interact. The Borough of New Alexandria has the right to delete posts and block users that are deemed to have violated the terms of this Social Medial Policy or any applicable laws, including but not limited to posts that include:
• Profane, obscene, or sexually explicit content and/or language
• Content that promotes, fosters, or perpetuates discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, age, religion, gender, or national origin
• Defamatory or information asserted as fact for which the poster does not have a reasonable basis to believe is accurate
• Threats to any person or organization
• Comments in support of, or in opposition to, any political candidate or ballot measures
• Solicitation of commerce, including but not limited to advertising of any business or product for sale or other personal uses
• Encouragement of illegal activity or violence
• Suggestions that a person(s) self-inflict personal injury or death or receive the same by others
• Information that may tend to compromise the safety or security of the public or public systems
• Content that violates a legal ownership interest, such as a copyright, of any party
• Harassment or content which constitutes and/or facilitates stalking
• Content which violates the right to privacy
• Repetitive content
• Content that may reasonably interfere with, inhibit, or compromise law enforcement investigations.
• Any external links
• Personally identifiable information of another person such as addresses, dates of birth, personal phone numbers or personal email addresses, other information protected by law or medical information
• Comments on topics or issues not within the jurisdictional purview of the Borough of New Alexandria. Please be aware that you participate at your own risk and assume personal responsibility for your comments, your username and any information provided. Nothing in this policy shall be applied to prohibit or infringe upon any communication, speech or expression that is protected or privileged under law. This includes speech and expression protected under state or federal constitutions, as well as, labor laws or other applicable laws. Any content removed based on these guidelines shall be retained by the Borough for a reasonable period of time, including the time, date and identity of the poster, when available, in accordance with Pennsylvania law.

Fireworks Reminder

As July 4th gets closer, keep in mind the new borough ordinance regarding fireworks.

According to state police, fireworks cannot be used in the following locations:
* On any public or private property without the permission of the owner
* Inside a motor vehicle or building
* Toward a motor vehicle or building
* Within 150 feet of a building that is occupied

The Borough of New Alexandria permits the use of Consumer Fireworks available to the general public during the following days and hours:
1. July 1st through July 7th commencing each day from 6:00 p.m. until 11:59 p.m. each evening;
2. December 31st from 6:00 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.; and
3. January 1st from 12:00 a.m. to 12:30 a.m.

Of course, anyone who is intoxicated or under the influence of a controlled substance is not allowed to shoot off fireworks legally.

New Alexandria Borough requires a permit to solicit!

If someone comes to your door selling or inquiring about anything and you do not know them, please ask to see a permit from the Borough for soliciting. If they do not have one, call the Code Enforcement Officer, Brian Shumack, at 724-217-9225, so that he is aware of this and can notify them.
