This morning at 07:08 Plain Township Fire Department was dispatched to a reported house fire on New Albany-Condit Road in Plain Township.
E122, R121, L121, M121, M122, BN121, CH122, EMS121, P121 responded from Plain Township Fire.
Mutual aid was provided from Harlem Twp FD, Westerville FD, Monroe Township FD, Genoa Twp FD, West Licking FD, Jefferson Twp FD, Columbus Fire.
On arrival, fire crews found a two story single family residential house, with two add-on single story features, with heavy fire showing through the roof.
The house was not occupied at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported to civilians or firefighters.
Firefighters faced numerous challenges with the layout of the property and numerous void spaces from previous additions. No fire hydrants are located in this area, so additional tankers were called from BST&G FD and Hartford FD to bring additional water supply to the scene. Support units were requested from Box-15 and CFD ISU 19.
Firefighters extinguished and contained the fire quickly. Units remained on the scene for overhaul and hot spots for several hours.
Plain Township FD would like to thank our mutual aid partners for their assistance during the incident.
Plain Township FD fire inspectors determined the cause of the fire was accidental as a result of rags with finishing materials being placed in a trash container.
