The fourth-annual Floyd County Halloween in the Park, presented in conjunction with the Floyd County Sheriff's Office, is coming to Sam Peden Community Park in New Albany on Sunday, Oct. 18, from 2-5 p.m.

This free community event will include trunk-or-treating, pumpkin decorating, face painting, inflatables and more!

5 P.M. UPDATE: Due to excessive heat and no significant relief in the heat index expected with a later start time, the New Albany Track Club has canceled Meet 1 scheduled for today, Thursday, Sept. 3, at Sam Peden Community Park in New Albany.

Sam Peden Community Park will experience significant traffic and pedestrian congestion today, Thursday, Sept. 3, from 6-9 p.m. due to a New Albany Track Club cross country meet for elementary school-aged runners.

In an effort to assist the flow of traffic, the back gate at Schell Lane will open at 5:30 p.m.

If you're planning to visit the park during these hours, please be prepared for a busy atmosphere and possible delays in the area.

Meet 1 of the New Albany Track Club season, scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026, has been pushed back to a later start time.

All second-graders will run at 7 p.m., followed by the third- and fourth-grade girlsโ€™ race and then the third- and fourth-grade boysโ€™ race.

The final race is expected to finish by 8 p.m., with the awards ceremony scheduled to conclude by 8:15 p.m.
