We are aware of significant traffic congestion along US-62 to SR-161 to Johnstown during the morning commute. New Albany Police, LCSO, and Ohio State Highway Patrol will be directing traffic from 6-8 a.m. to help keep vehicles moving while traffic engineers continue to assess the situation.

For a limited time, SWACO is accepting mattresses and box springs for recycling. Old, dirty, ripped and yellowed mattresses and box springs that are dry can be dropped off for FREE recycling at SWACO’s Recycling Convenience Center. We accept all sizes of both traditional and memory foam mattresses and box springs.

The opportunity is part of a pilot project and is limited. Mattresses will not be accepted after Nov. 30, 2026.

Plain Township is proud to recognize Ada Sesay as she concludes her summer internship through the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC).

Ada joined our team in time to highlight the groundbreaking of a new fire station on day one. She spent time capturing the summer pool season, including swim championships, Safety Town, and swim lessons. Throughout the summer, she has spent time with our maintenance team, fire department, and aquatic center to help document the activities and operations of the township.

With the Semiquincentennial, Ada helped to share our history and connection to the Revolutionary War. She helped tell our story about operating and maintaining a 140-year-old cemetery. Time with the fire department included ride-alongs, grocery runs, and Safety Town.

Her positive outlook, willingness to try new things, and adaptability took her to new heights and made her a great addition to our team this summer.

Ada returns to Ohio University to pursue her Bachelor's degree in marketing with a minor in fashion design, and we wish her continued success in her studies.

Thank you, Ada, for your hard work, warm smile, and service to Plain Township. We look forward to seeing all that you accomplish! đź’™

There are reports of high water around the township, especially near culverts, ditches and creeks. Motorists should use caution and never drive through high water. Please drive safely.

[NAPLS] Due to an abundance of caution and the extreme rain combined with the possibility of flooding in areas of the district, New Albany - Plain Local Schools will be on a two hour delay this morning. There is no morning Eagles Nest & Kindergarten Assessments will be impacted. Communication on that will go directly to ELC families later this morning.
