The hit or miss storms will be rolling through our county over the next couple of days. They could produce localized flooding. Make sure you stay out of areas that normally flood. Also, if you live near a storm drain and it is covered with leaves and other debris feel free to clean it off. Our crews are out getting to as many as we can, but we can always use the publics help.
Remember turn around, don't drown!

Per the National Weather Service we are expected this week to be a filled with storms and excessive amounts of rainfall. Please be mindful when out driving that you avoid low laying areas as they will potentially be covered with run off from these storms.
Floyd County Highway and Public Works are out today and tomorrow clearing as many drainage basins and roadside ditches as possible. But also ask for your assistance. If you live near a catch basin in your neighborhood and you see debris on the grate, please help and clear them of the debris.
It takes all of us within our community to help when it comes to storm events like these we are expected to encounter this week.

This weekend we have some heavy rain coming our way. With already saturated ground, we could/can expect there to be some low level flooding.
You can help by making sure drainage ways are clear of debris and that any nearby storm drains are clear.
If you find a clogged storm drain and you cannot safely unclog it, then contact our off and we can put in a work order for workers to investigate and possibly help unclog.

Be safe, and as always Turn Around, Don't Drown!

Widespread heavy rainfall is expected Saturday and Saturday night. Rainfall amounts from 2-5 inches are likely, with locally higher amounts possible. Significant flooding is possible where the heaviest rain falls.
