It has been a long time coming, but we were finally able to give our dispatchers a new home. As many of you are aware, the dispatchers for our city are the unsung hero’s who help keep our emergency services running in New Albany and today we are able to put them in a facility that will help them do just that. Thanks to Mayor Gahan, Chief Bailey, the citizens of New Albany, and all who helped make this day possible.

Over the past 24 hours there have been rumors circulating on social media claiming a major crime occurred near Silver St at E Spring St in New Albany.

Early Wednesday morning, an individual suffering from a medical issue suffered a head injury while near the Dollar Tree. New Albany Police investigated this matter thoroughly and determined NO CRIME OCCURRED . The individual in question was transported to a local hospital and is recovering.

Caution should always be exercised when engaging in social media as many times we find the information is not to be true and was the case regarding this matter.

In the event a serious crime occurs, the New Albany Police will officially message the information to the public. We however will not message medical related matters due to privacy considerations. Thank you.
