New Albany Founders Day New Albany Founders Day The annual Founders Day Celebration was started by the Historical Society in 1976 as part of the nation's Bicentennial celebration.

The event has continued on in celebration of the founding fathers development of the area now known as Plain Township and the City of New Albany and is funded by donations from the community.

Remember when Founders Day had a Miss New Albany Pageant? 🧡

The festival has looked a lot of different ways over the past 50 years. Car shows. Talent shows. The Ethel Schleppi Art Show. A 5k race. A pageant.

Some traditions stuck around. Others made way for new ones. But every version was built by neighbors, for neighbors.
