A Red Flag Warning is in effect through 5pm on Thursday. Gusty northerly winds and low humidity can create critical fire weather conditions.
Take steps to prevent sparks and reduce wildfire risk:
โ€ข Avoid using power equipment during windy or dry conditions. Lawn mowers are designed for lawns, not dry w**ds or grass. Metal blades can spark when they hit rocks.
โ€ข Practice safe towing and secure all chains. Dragging chains can throw sparks and ignite roadside vegetation.
โ€ข Park vehicles far away from dry grass.
Prepare a go-bag for your family with essential supplies in case an evacuation becomes necessary. Learn what to pack at ReadyNevadaCounty.org/GoBags

About 95% of California wildfires are started by people, often without realizing it.
By changing our behavior, especially during hot, dry or windy conditions, we can stop wildfires before they start.
Here's how you can help prevent wildfires:
๐Ÿ”ง Inspect equipment before outdoor workโ€”metal on metal creates sparks
๐ŸŒพ Skip mowing dry grass in the afternoon heatโ€”friction alone can ignite it
โ›“ Keep trailer chains off the groundโ€”sparks fly when metal hits pavement
๐Ÿ”ฅNever leave campfires, BBQs, or power tools unattended in dry conditions
Every one of us can help stop a wildfire before it starts. Do your part.
By changing our behavior, especially during hot, dry, or windy conditions, we can stop wildfires before they start.
