Nettleton Main Street Awarded $10,000 America 250 Grant! 🇺🇸

We’re excited to announce that Nettleton Main Street has been awarded a $10,000 America 250 grant through the Mississippi Humanities Council to support our upcoming Town Creek Festival & Archaeological Expo, happening Saturday, October 10, 2026.

With these grant funds, we’ll be able to showcase the rich history of America while continuing all the favorite Town Creek Festival activities our community enjoys.

Most activities will take place at the Dorothy J Lowe Memorial Library - Nettleton, MS, with certain events spread across additional locations throughout town to give visitors a full, immersive experience.

See the attached flyer for details on participant opportunities and featured events — including the Civil War Reenactment, archaeological exhibits, vendors, music, art, genealogy research, fireworks, and more.

Nettleton Main Street is officially accredited by Main Street America — the highest level of national recognition for preservation‑based economic development.

This accreditation affirms that our program meets the rigorous performance standards required to build a vibrant, resilient, and economically thriving downtown. It reflects years of strategic planning, community partnerships, volunteer dedication, and a shared belief that Nettleton’s heart is worth investing in.

From façade improvements and historic preservation to business support and community events, this recognition celebrates the real work happening right here at home.

Thank you to our board, volunteers, and the people of Nettleton for helping us reach this milestone. Our Main Street is strong — and we’re just getting started.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Mississippi Main Street Association for their continued guidance, and to Mayor Phillip Baulch and the Nettleton Board of Aldermen for their unwavering support. Their leadership and commitment make progress possible.

🚨 SCAM ALERT – DO NOT CLICK OR REPLY 🚨
Several residents have reported receiving a fake text message claiming to be from the State of Mississippi about a “scheduled traffic court proceeding.”
This is a scam.

The scam text reads:
“State of Mississippi – Notice of Scheduled Traffic Court Proceeding
To the Registered Vehicle Owner of Record,
Official court records confirm a pending traffic case associated with your driving and vehicle registration profile has been formally scheduled for judicial review.
Case Reference No.: MS-22834-2025
Presiding Judge: Daniel Foster
Mandatory Court Appearance: May 11, 2026, 9:00 A.M.
You may resolve this matter by submitting full payment via the official authorized online portal below:
https://ms.gov-fobke.cc/mdot/
Failure to respond will result in a bench warrant, suspension of driving privileges, and an additional $185 fee.
Reply with ‘C’ to acknowledge receipt.”

Why it’s a scam:
Mississippi courts do not send traffic‑court notices by text

The link is fake and not a real government website

The case number and judge name are fabricated

Asking you to “Reply C” is a tactic to confirm your phone number

Real court notices come by mail, not text messages

What to do:
Do NOT click the link

Do NOT reply

Delete the message

🙏 NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER 2026 🙏

What a beautiful sight today as our community gathered at City Hall to pray over Nettleton and our nation. Local pastors and residents joined together to declare God’s glory and seek His guidance for the days ahead.

“Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples.” — 1 Chronicles 16:24

May we continue to walk in unity, love, and faith as we lift up our town and our country.
