What a great event. If just ONE student doesn't take a drink or puts the keys down, we have won and lives are saved. We will never know but we hope the impact of this event makes it so.

Last week, Chief Rosen completed 40 hours of training and became certified in Polyvagal therapy. Polyvagal therapy is a neuroscience-informed approach that helps individuals regulate their autonomic nervous system, shift out of trauma or stress responses, and build emotional resilience. It focuses on how your body perceives safety and danger, aiming to bring you back to a calm, grounded state.

Rosen is also a certified Grief Coach., Mental Health Resilience Officer and certified Peer Support Specialist. These certifications assist staff with coping after difficult days, calls or other issues experienced at home or work.

Neptune Township EMS is committed to the well being and resilience of its volunteer and paid staff with a robust Peer Support program. We have 15 MHROs, 6 PSSs and policies to back the program with Medical Director Steve Vetrano, DO and Clinical Oversight by OGFD/EMS Captain Jeff Newenhouse, PsyD

To all of our volunteer and paid providers, THANK YOU! Thanks for the professionalism and commitment to excellence. Our consumers are better off because of you. Whether you are answering an emergency call for the worst day of someone's life, standing by at a sporting event, staffing a table at a health fair or supporting one of our divisions, you are a vital part of our department and of our residents and visitors safety and well-being.

Honestly, we don't do this for a week of recognition. We don't take Thank You's well. We do it because of the compassion we have, the commitment to serving our community and fellow man. It takes special people to be responders. You are all these special people.

Happy EMS Week and all the time!
