Stay weather-aware today! Today (Thursday) afternoon between 2:00PM and 10:00PM, we are expecting isolated severe thunderstorms with the potential for damaging winds, heavy rain, and a slight chance for the development of tornadoes. The main hazards will be the potential for flash flooding due to periods of heavy rain, as well as gusty winds. Today marks two weeks since Bil Rosen passed, and I wanted to take a moment to share something a little more personal about why I wanted to create this portrait.

Bil was one of the first people who was genuinely kind to me when I was new in Mercer County. When I was nervous about my medic test — and especially nervous about having to use a LifePak 10 — he took the time to help me practice.

Years later, our paths crossed again in a different way. We talked about bringing ARTiCISM into Neptune EMS, and about the importance of mental health in EMS. Bil understood what I was trying to build by combining art, conversation, and healing, and he was supportive of that work. That meant a lot to me.

There are people in EMS whose names become part of the history of the system itself, and Bil was one of those people.

But before any title or accomplishment, he was a son, brother, husband, father, friend, mentor, educator, leader, and paramedic. ❤️‍🔥

For decades, he served New Jersey EMS in more roles, places, and patches than I could ever fit into one portrait.

Every patch behind him represents another chapter of that career, another agency, and another group of people whose lives intersected with his.

For me, this portrait also represents something simpler: remembering the person who was kind to the new EMT, who took the time to teach, and who believed there was value in finding better ways to care for the people doing this work.

This is my small way of honoring Bil’s service, his impact on New Jersey EMS, and the many people who carry a piece of what he taught them forward.

Wednesday, August 5 - Due to the funeral services for Neptune Township EMS Chief Bil Rosen, road closures will be in place today along Jumping Brook Rd and West Bangs Ave. All times are approximate and subject to change.

• Jumping Brook Rd will be closed between RT 33 and West Jumping Brook Rd between 11:00AM and 4:00PM.
• West Bangs Ave will be closed between West Lake Ave and Louisville Ave between 4:00PM and 5:30PM.

Officers will be present at the road closures to allow residents living in the area to access their homes. Thank you all for your patience as we honor Chief Rosen, who sadly died in the line of duty as he dedicated his life to the safety of Neptune Township and our residents.

*Funeral Service Details for Neptune Township EMS Chief Bil Rosen*

It is with great sadness that we share the news that Neptune Township EMS Chief, loving husband of Kristin, and loving father of Sebastian, William T. “Bil” Rosen collapsed and died in the line of duty on August 3, 2026. He was 59.

The funeral service will be held at Hamilton Fire House, 10 Jumping Brook Rd, Neptune Township, NJ on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at 3:00pm. Due to the large number of visitors expected to attend the service, the doors will open at 1:00pm. The funeral will be followed by burial at Agudath Achim Cemetery, 2432 W Bangs Ave, Neptune Township, NJ.

Bil is predeceased by his loving son Liam and his father Marvin. Surviving is his beloved wife Kristin Rosen; his loving son Sebastian; his dear mother Marilyn Rosen; aunt Barbara Bascom; his sister and her family Arlene, Bill, Rebecca, and Matthew Lerman; his cousins Adele Bascom-Poplawski, John, Jared, and Rayna Poplowski, and Michael, Kathleen, Kyle, and Diane Bascom; his step-sister and her family Cindi, Cliff, Kim, and Tracy Fisher; as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Please keep Bil’s wife Kristin, his son Sebastian, his loving family, and everyone whose lives he touched along the way in your thoughts. His dad jokes will be deeply missed, and the joy he brought to all of us will never be forgotten. The legacy he has left behind will be carried on for generations by all the lives that Bil touched.
