Members were at the squad last night for the first day of our water drive. They will be at the squad again this morning starting at 09:00 hours collecting donations of water, sports drinks and granola bars. We use these for responder rehabilitation at long duration and severe weather scenes.

Last evening SRHFAS held an asset orientation for newer members led by squad Captain M Bascom and NTEMS Chief B. Rosen. Assets reviewed included the Medical Ambulance Bus (MAB2) and Alternative Support Apparatus (ASAP8). Members learned how to assist with both assets and learned to drive the ASAP. They practiced deploying both, loading and unloading patients and supporting incidents requiring these assets.

MAB 2 on scene in Long Branch, Monmouth county, NJ providing rehab and warming at a multiple alarm, multiple jurisdiction structure fire.

MAB 2 currently on scene of a structure fire in Eatontown, Monmouth County, NJ. One paid and one volunteer EMS staff. 2 ambulances continue to cover Neptune township.

Avian Influenza (Bird Flu) Update

The NJ Department of Environmental Protection and the Division of Fish and Wildlife have reported an active outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) commonly referred to as Avian Influenza or Bird Flu which is impacting birds throughout the State of New Jersey. The Bird Flu poses a relatively low risk to humans and domestic animals, but is highly pathogenic and typically fatal to all types of birds, both wild and farm/domestic. While instances of Bird Flu being transmitted to humans or domestic animals are rare and none have been reported in our area at this time, all are urged to keep themselves and domestic animals a safe distance away from dead birds. If you observe dead birds in Neptune Township, please contact the NTPD's non-emergency line at (732) 988-8000 and report the location. Interesting story time: In 2011 we took delivery of our Medical Ambulance Bus (MAB2) from Sartin Services, Inc. Almost immediately, we utilized it to evacuate several facilities during hurricane Irene. Only MAB 1 (Elizabeth FD) and MAB 2 (SRHFAS) had been built and delivered yet. MAB1 & MAB2 were dispatched to Trenton, Mercer County, NJ to evacuate the Water's Edge Nursing Home due to the flooding of the Delaware River across the street.

Fast forward to Tuesday, February 3, 2026, NTEMS was dispatched to Whiting, Ocean County, NJ for a facility evacuation. 8 patients were transported to....you guessed it, Water's Edge Nursing Home in Trenton, NJ. A 15 year full circle!

Thanks to volunteers from SRHFAS and paid staff from Neptune Township EMS for staffing and operating MAB2. Pictured at WENH are (L-R) EMT Daniella Camporeale, Paramedic Bil Rosen and EMT Carla Ward. Also thanks to EMTs Dylan Caruso and Isabella Moore for holding down Neptune on a high call volume day and Asbury Park Fire Department and for providing Mutual Aid Response in our crew's absence.

Last night, 1/29/2026, the squad had another new member orientation. Members reviewed ambulance checks and learned how to document on our Google Drive. Additionally some members hung shelves in the newly built closets and arranged supplies. Photos were taken for new ID cards. Was a very successful evening.
