⚠️🌪️ TORNADO WATCH 🌪️⚠️

A Tornado Watch has been issued for our area until 7 PM this evening. Thunderstorms are forecast to develop later this afternoon and evening. Storms may become severe resulting in isolated damaging wind gusts up to 80 MPH. Large hail and a tornado or two are also possible.

Residents are encouraged to secure all loose outdoor items including furniture and garbage cans. If you observe a downed power line, please stay clear and call 911. If you experience a power outage, please contact JCPL by texting “OUT” to LIGHTS (544487) or by calling 888-LIGHTSS (888-544-4877). 💨🔋💡

❄️ Blizzard Update 2/22 4:30 PM ❄️

Rain has transitioned to snow and is beginning to accumulate on all surfaces. Conditions will continue to deteriorate through the remainder of the afternoon. Snow is expected to intensify and rapidly accumulate during the overnight hours. Gusty winds up to 60 MPH will lead to Blizzard conditions at times. Snow will continue through Monday afternoon and taper off in the early evening hours. Total snow accumulation of 24-30 inches is expected.

Residents are asked to follow all local snow removal ordinance’s and regulations. Snow covered roadways will lead to hazardous travel conditions. If possible, please refrain from unnecessary travel to allow our DPW to work safely and efficiently with snow removal operations.

⚠️❄️ Blizzard Warning ❄️⚠️

A winter storm is expected to impact our area late this weekend. A Blizzard Warning has been issued effective 10 AM Sunday through 6 PM Monday with 18-24 inches of heavy snow predicted. Snowfall rates of 1-2 inches per hour is possible Sunday evening through Monday morning. Gusty winds up to 55 MPH are possible leading to blowing and drifting snow. Due to the heavy snow and gusty winds, isolated power outages may occur.

A Coastal Flood Watch is also in effect for Sunday evening. 1-2 feet of inundation above ground is possible during Sunday evening’s high tide cycle (11:21 PM) which may impact several local roadways including the East End Avenue Bridge. If you reside along the Shark River in a flood prone area, we urge you to move your vehicles to higher ground during high tide cycles.

Residents are asked to follow all local snow removal ordinance’s and regulations. Snow covered roadways will lead to hazardous travel conditions. Take it slow and allow yourself extra time in the event you must travel. Continue to monitor the National Weather Service, local news outlets and Neptune City OEM for storm updates.

❄️ Winter Storm Update ❄️

Approximately 10 inches of snow has fallen throughout the borough. A mixture of snow and sleet will continue through the remainder of the afternoon into this evening. Additional snow and sleet accumulation of 2 inches is possible along with a trace of ice. Precipitation is expected to continue through late this evening into Monday morning. A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 AM.

🪏🚜 Snow Removal-
Neptune City Public Works remains hard at work clearing snow from the roadways and borough facilities. Please refrain from travel if possible due to hazardous road conditions. Residents are asked to follow all Borough snow removal rules and ordinances. Residents are also asked to assist the fire department by clearing your closest fire hydrant of any snow and ice.

🚒🚓 Emergency Services-
The Neptune City Fire Department and Emergency Operations Center has been staffed and operational since last night and will be for the remainder of the storm.

📚🍎 School Closure-
Due to the winter storm and hazardous travel conditions, the Neptune City School District will be CLOSED on Monday January 26, 2026. The closure includes all school activities, programs, and after school events.

⚠️❄️ Winter Storm ❄️⚠️

A winter storm is forecast to impact our area this weekend. A Winter Storm Watch has been issued effective 7 PM Saturday through 1 PM Monday with 12-18 inches of snow currently predicted. The snow may mix with sleet at times reducing final snow totals. Snowfall rates of 1-2 inches per hour is possible Sunday morning into the afternoon. Snow and ice covered roadways will lead to hazardous travel conditions.

Temperatures are forecast to drop into the teens this evening and remain below freezing for several consecutive nights with wind chills in the single digits. Prolonged exposure to the dangerous cold may result in hypothermia or frostbite.

Continue to monitor the National Weather Service, local news outlets and Neptune City OEM for storm updates. Residents should prepare for a significant snowfall and prolonged freezing temperatures. Stay safe!

⚠️❄️🧊 Our initial snowfall forecast for the weekend winter storm is for a widespread 8-18". Mixing will likely reduce totals near and southeast of I-95, with the lowest totals occurring in this region. Precip falling mainly late Saturday night through early Monday morning, peaking during the daytime Sunday. A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect for the entire region. Very cold conditions expected starting Friday night through next week.

Monday mid day update: The cold front is making its way through our region now. Behind this cold front, expect gusty westerly and northwesterly winds up to 50 mph for most of the region, gusts up to 55 mph for the higher terrain of the southern Poconos. Take time to secure any loose items outdoors - including holiday decor!

Here are the updated snow/sleet prediction maps from our friends over at US National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mount Holly. Sleet is falling throughout the area creating extremely hazardous road conditions. Several accidents have been reported throughout the area. Please use caution if you must travel. A State of Emergency has been declared for all 21 counties effective until further notice. Be safe!
